Host On-Demand migration utility can be used for migrating HOD server files from a lower version to a higher version.
Currently Host On-Demand migration is a manual process. Administration has to do the following steps in order to migrate:
Some of the browsers do not support java plugins. To handle this, Host On-Demand 12 offers a web-start solution. After manual migration of files from v11 to v12, if the v11 files are accessed from browser they will not launch. To make these files work, users need to edit them through the deployment wizard so that a corresponding jnlp file gets created for each HTML file.
There are also other security configuration files, customized files etc., which when missed out in the manual migration, may cause an erroneous migration and render the Host On-Demand server unusable.
Due to the above said limitations, Host On-Demand v13 is accompanied with a new migration utility.
Migration utility allows you to migrate Host On-Demand server files from lower versions (like v11 and v12) to higher version. Migration is a two-step process:
Step 1: Export files from the lower version of Host On-Demand server (ex: HOD11). This process generates the Migrationpackage.zip file
Step 2: Import the exported files to higher version of Host On-Demand server (ex: HOD13). This process imports the exported files from MigrationPackage.zip to higher version of HOD server.
• Both source and migrating versions can be on same server (in different location) or on 2 different servers.
This utility migrates all the HTML files (e.g. test.html), deployment wizard related files (e.g., test_z.html, J_test.html, test.jnlp), the related folders (HODData), security related files, DirUtil files, pdfpdt files, customized files (kmp, pmp, bar, col, mac).
This utility takes a backup of the destination Host On-Demand files before starting the import operation. Backup zip file will be created and saved on the destination server.
Post import if user decides to do rollback to original version of Host On-Demand, this can be done by running rollback operation using Rollback.xml (this file will be created post import). Rollback will remove all imported files from current Host On-Demand and restore to previous stage. Rollback process also kicks in if the import process fails.
