What is License Manager? IBM Host Integration License Manager is a tool used for tracking license information for the products IBM Host On-Demand and IBM Personal Communications. Why a new License Manager? Previous versions of IBM Host On-Demand and IBM Personal Communications, had separate license tracking components for each of the products. That made it impossible for users to know/track licenses for the 2 products together. Those individual components did not have the identification for which flavour of the product was used to access the license (like Standalone HOD, Cached client etc.) Recently while working with an enterprise customer, they came up with a requirement to track both concurrent and authorized licenses separately. They also needed the ability to derive usability patterns based on the licenses of each product or sub-product being used. This was not possible with the old solution. What was also needed was the ability to generate usage reports for compliance reports. To satisfy the above requirements, the engineering team worked with the Design thinking team in HCL and came up with the design for a new License Manager, that catered to the above requirements and more. The following sections describe the advantages and salient features of this license manager. Salient features of License Manager The picture shows the home page of License Manager. The new License Manager comes with many salient features, which include the following: Fig 1: IBM Host Integration License Manager home page.
