Introduction
The Status bar displays the status of the green screen parameters like cursor position etc. It can be enabled/disabled by Users at the client side, but Administrators can set the status bar value globally for all sessions to control Users from enabling/disabling the Status bar on the client side.

The Admin can use isStatusBarEditableByAdmin and enableStatusBarForAll parameters in the web.properties file to set the global value. Valid values for these parameters are True/False.
  • create web.properties (case sensitive) file in the HOD publish directory.
  • Path for web.properties file : HOD publish directory path (C:\Program Files\ibm\HostOnDemand\HOD)
  • If enableStatusBarForAll= true in web.properties file (in HOD publish directory), the status bar checkbox in the Settings Panel gets selected, and the status bar is enabled for all the sessions globally when the client launches a session.
  • If enableStatusBarForAll= false in web.properties file (in HOD publish directory), the status bar checkbox in the Settings Panel gets unchecked and the status bar is disabled for all the sessions globally when the client launches a session.
  • if isStatusBarEditableByAdmin = true, the status bar checkbox is locked and cannot be modified (enabled/disabled) by Users on the client side.
  • if isStatusBarEditableByAdmin = false, the status bar checkbox is unlocked and can be modified (enabled/disabled) by Users on the client side.

Note:
o   The modified parameter values from the web.properties file will be picked only after the browser page is refreshed.
o   Changes made at the client side are stored in the browser’s storage until the browser history is cleared.

Flow of Events
Below is the procedure to show/hide the Status Bar :
  • Admin should set enableStatusBarForAll = true  or enableStatusBarForAll  = false in web.properties file in the HOD publish directory. Based on the value set for this parameter, the status bar is enabled/disabled in the client side.
  • Admin should set isStatusBarEditableByAdmin = true or isStatusBarEditableByAdmin = false in web.properties file in the HOD publish directory. Based on the value set for this parameter, the status bar checkbox is locked or unlocked.
Note:
o   If the Admin does not define the enableStatusBarForAll value in web.properties file, by default, the status bar is in disabled state.
o   If the Admin does not define the isStatusBarEditableByAdmin value in web.properties file, by default, the status bar checkbox remains unlocked.
  • Launch the session in HACP EE.
  • Go to Settings à Preferences à Display status bar
